Summertime fun

If you live in Utah you will know these picture are old because the weather the past two weeks has been more like March than June.
On one of the few hot days we have had this month, Livvy and Micah cooled off in the sprinklers. Molly joined them after a while too. Of course they had to make the day perfect by ending with a Popsicle. Yummy!

So proud of my hubby!

Kenny and I ran the Provo Riverwood's 10 mile race this morning. It was Kenny's first race ever and he did awesome! He finished 10th in his age category, with a time of 92 min. 38 sec. Pretty impressive. I am so proud of him and appreciate him taking up running so we can share a common interest.

Our next race is the Freedom Run. It is a 10k on the 4th of July. Baylie is going to run it with us also. We are all preparing for a half marathon in January. If you are going to the parade in Provo, look for us!

Disneyland

Boy what a day! We got lost driving to the park. I had a nervous breakdown in the car talking to my dad about driving directions. We arrived about 20 minutes after everyone else, so not horrible.
Since it was Grandma's 97th birthday, she got into the park for free. (Shouldn't any 97 year old still coming to Disneyland get in free? The only ride she rode was the Mark Twain. Maybe Small World too). Anyway, in honor of her (and some deranged idea of my sister and cousin too! love you guys!) all the girls wore pink. Pink shirts, black shorts, pink flip flops. People were impressed by how "cool" we looked. I was fine with it, but it was a little chilly and would have liked to have worn pants.
Livvy rode Splash Mountain for the first time! She wasn't too sure about it and has since told me several times she does not want to ride it again. We'll see about that.
Normally we are big foodies when we go to the park, but we didn't really buy much this time. Livvy thoroughly enjoyed her cotton candy (which I bribed her with to ride Splash Mountain). Micah shared all of our meals, as well as eating all of his.
Micah's highlight of the day was driving he cars on Autopia. We would ask his if he was going to drive the car and he would get all excited and say "Yesssh!".
We left at 10:30, I know, way to early, but both Livvy and Micah fell asleep in their strollers. I think the rest of the fam left around midnight and were stuck on the freeway behind a crash for a long time too. Glad I was nice and warm, asleep in bed.

Road trip

We left for Cali on Wed. with Aunt Cari and Uncle Mark in our car. Our first stop was the Chevron in Beaver to stretch our legs and relax on the giant rocking chair. We arrived around 3:30 am Thurs. and fell right into bed. Wendy had already arrived at Sara's house the day before, so Livvy and Micah were excited to see them as well as their other cousins, Darbi, Maci and Kiki.

We just relaxed Thurs. but went to Market Night in Downtown Redlands. It is a great farmers market with really fresh, delicious produce. I had to try this on at one of the hat vendors. What do you think? Not so much? I didn't buy it. Livvy and Micah went on the big bouncy slide and had lots of fun.

Fri. we went with Cari and Mark to Little Tokyo in downtown LA. Kenny was disappointed because the store he wanted to go to was closed when we got there. The kids were happy with their treats. Micah's were fish shaped pretzels filled with chocolate. Mark was a little hesitant to try "Japanese food". But, we did get Cari and Mark to try mochi, ice cream balls wrapped in rice flour. They are really good!

Our next stop was Olvera St. just down the road from Little Tokyo. We had lots of fun looking at the vendors shops, Livvy got a cute little leather purse to hold her makeup in (chapstick). We also walked through the oldest house in LA. There were some gorgeous flowers and plant life around it. For lunch we ate at the famous, Juanita's. My dad and family have been eating there for the past 40 years or so. Really good taquitos, really good guacamole and very reasonable prices.

Next we drove to Santa Monica and the pier. Livvy and Micah had a great time chasing the waves. We would have let them get all the way in, but it was only about 65 degrees and overcast. Micah's lips were blue just from putting his feet in!

Friday was also my mom's 69th birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! The next day is my Grandma's 97th birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!, so we went to dinner at Mimi's to celebrate the occasion. My cousin Amy joined us also.
After dinner we went back to grandma's for birthday pie. Aunt Penny, Uncle Paul, my cousins Becky, Mark and his wife Gwen, Ben and his son Connor, Wendy, Cody, Kaylee, Sara, Darbi, Maci and Kiki were there to celebrate also. It was a mad house! But I love my family, so it was great.

We went to bed early that night because the next day was Disneyland! That will be a post of it's own.

Livvy's conversations

I was reading my friend Natalie's post about a conversation she had with her little girl and it reminded me of a very similar one I had with Livvy the other week.

Livvy: Mom, did Jesus die in Spanish Fork?
Me: No, he didn't die in Spanish Fork, he died in a place called Jerusalem.
Livvy: Oh. But people don't live there now, right?
Me: No, people still live there.
Livvy: Oh. Did Jesus die for me?
Me: Yes, Livvy he did. He died for everyone because he loves us.
Livvy: But he is alive again, right?
Me: Yes, he is alive again.

Wow! We talked about the resurrection at Easter time, but I didn't think she grasped it much. Guess I was wrong!
