Sleepless nights

I have been at work now for 11 1/2 hours. My shift is almost over! I have spent the night hanging antibiotics, taking temperatures and silencing alarms for the babies I am taking care of. It has actually been fairly quiet so I have been able to read a little (shh, don't tell the superiors!), and I am longing for my pillow now. But I wonder, what do you do on sleepless nights?

At the Fair

A few weekends ago we had the pleasure of going to the Utah County Fair right here in Spanish Fork! It was small, but we had a very fun time. I climbed a rock wall...barefoot! We had yummy shaved ice (thanks Dad/Grandpa), the kids rode a few carnival rides and the big slide. We saw cows, sheep and pigs and all of the neat crafts from the 4H club. Not to mention, I won a free $100 gas card and a 3day-2night trip for 2 to Anaheim all expenses paid (if I listen to the 90min spiel about the Wyndham Resort, could be worth it right?) Livvy won a free dozen donuts at the Macey's cakewalk, actually I think everyone who was with us that day won a free one dozen of something, not too shabby! The highlight of the day can be seen in the video below. I totally toasted Wendy on the tractor race!

Making Jam

My mother has a beautiful, big apricot tree in her front yard so I decided to make jam the other day. Now don't let your expectations get too high, I made freezer jam, not cooked jam. I know how to make cooked jam, but it was hot and well, it was hot.

So I started with these:

Sliced, cut and chopped.

Added LOTS of sugar, pectin, stirred and put into these:

The whole time I had one of these attached to my leg:

He's not very happy. But the jam tastes delicious!

Happy Anniversary

Friday, August 1st marked Kenny and my 5th wedding anniversary. I can't believe we have been married for 5 years. To be honest, it feels like longer, like we have always been together. It is nice to know we will always be together too!! Have you ever heard "the first year is the hardest"? I am still waiting to see if that year ever shows up in our marriage. Our 5 years have been wonderful and the addition of two beautiful children has made it
pretty close to perfection.

Kenny is the love of my life. After some stupid mistakes and hardships in my past, Kenny came into my life at the right time and completed what was missing. As I sit here typing I am trying to put into words what Kenny means to me and I keep having to backspace because no words can describe what I feel for him. He is my love, my best friend, the best father in the world. He is such a hard worker, providing for our family. He never, ever raises his voice, in fact I don't think I have ever seen him get mad. He loves life, is always ready for an adventure. His optimism is contagious and he is a friend to everyone he meets. Even though I tease him about being a big kid and loving toys, I love it about him too.
Kenny, I love you! Keep being goofy, don't ever grow up. Thank you for these past 5years. I can't wait to see what adventure our future holds.

Livvy's first sleep over

Monday night Livvy had her cousin Kaylee sleep over. It was pretty entertaining to watch two 2 1/2 year olds talk and act like a "big girl". They both got their pillows and blankets, we popped popcorn, put lemonade in their princess cups and settled down to watch a movie. They choose 101 Dalmatians. They watched until 11:00, by that time I was tired so I said it was time for bed. They actually went to bed without a fight, I was amazed. Then at 2 am I hear Livvy get up to go potty and Kaylee's little voice say, "Susan...Susan I want you." She came into my room followed by Livvy who naturally laid down on the floor by my bed (it's pretty much a nightly occurrence). Kaylee was about to follow suit, but I got both of them to get their blankets and pillows and I ended up sleeping on the floor in the living room with them. Livvy on one side, Kaylee on the other. It would have been fine, but Kaylee woke me up again around 4am to give me a kiss, how could I get made at that? She is just so sweet. Livvy slept pretty soundly, but Kaylee did toss and turn and kick some. They both woke up happy as clams, I on the other hand was quite stiff and sleep deprived, but they had fun so that's what counts.

My Micah Man

My little guy is 9 months old! Well, he is actually almost 10 months old, but I finally got his 9 month pictures taken. He is getting so big! 20 lbs 12.5 oz, 29 1/2 in. long. He has 8 teeth with two more trying to make their way through. He is crawling all over the place, he pushes his walker, is starting to stand on his own now, waves bye-bye, give high fives...just to name a few of his accomplishments. He is also a Daddy's boy. He loves, loves, loves Kenny. I always feel a little pang of jealousy when he reaches for Kenny over me, but it is right for him to bond with Kenny. Who else is Kenny going to play Transformers and RC cars with? Here are some pics of my little guy.
